Spring Term,

Happy New Year to you all!

This term swimming continues for all of Roe Class. If children can please remember swimming kits, including hats, on Wednesdays. If PE kits can please be returned and left in school.

Thank you for your support with helping your child with their homework. If home reading books can please be returned each week on your child’s reading day. Also, if you can please encourage your child to learn all times tables and related division facts. Websites for Maths and other subjects can be found in the Homework section of Roe Class page to help with this and give opportunities for further learning in other curriculum subjects. Homework will be given out on Fridays each week. If you can please ensure that your child brings their homework book into school on this day.

Many thanks.

Miss Mercer

Autumn Term

A warm welcome to all members of Roe Class!

This year, I will be teaching your child on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.  On a Thursday, Miss Proctor will be teaching.  Mr Gregory will be working alongside us in the mornings and in the afternoon, Mrs Baines.

On Tuesdays this half term, we are fortunate to have a  South Ribble Coach delivering a PE session so if you can please ensure that your child has a PE kit in school.  On Wednesdays, beginning the 12th of September, swimming will start at Bamber Bridge leisure centre so if swimming kits can be brought in on this day.

Your child has already brought home a school reading book with their reading day marked on the front of their diary.  We will send home 2 books per week.  Please can diaries be signed and dated for each read.  A longer book may take several reads to complete.  Each read counts towards the 150 reading challenge.  Also, other books that may be read at home can be added to the diary and the reads counted.  We have a class reading display in our class and in the school library and each child will move a butterfly as they reach reading milestones.

Last year we trialled a change to the homework sent home.  We focussed on daily reading.  In addition we sent  weekly spellings and  weekly times tables.  We are continuing with this again this year.  Subsequently, spellings and tables will be sent on a Friday and the children will be tested the following Wednesday.

School will inform parents if there are any changes to the homework policy.

Thank you for your  support.
