LO: To write a narrative story (guided write)
Use these contracted words in sentences:
In today's lesson. we are writing the end of your story together. This is exactly how we would do this in class so you shouldn't need too much help from an adult. Remember to include:
Make sure you have edited your work and checked all of your punctuation and capital letters. Read back through your story and see if you can add in any adjectives or conjunctions to make your story even better!
Go onto phonics play and look at phase 5. Play tricky word trucks and go onto phase 5 all HFW. Then you can choose some other games.
Write down the tricky words and use them in sentences.
LO: To recognise and create repeating patterns
Mental Maths Starter:
I am thinking of a shape with 3 corners and 3 sides. Can you guess what it is? Can you draw it?
Today we are looking at recognising and creating patterns with shapes.
Can you write a list of as many 2D and 3D shapes as you can. It would be even better if you could draw these shapes too!
I have set you lots of 2Do's on purple mash.
LO: To understand the story of Jesus meeting Simeon and Anna
When the parish family gathers to celebrate Mass, we have an important part to play by listening to God’s Word. The priest (or deacon if there is one) reads the Gospel, the stories of the life of Jesus, who is the most special person for the parish family. We stand to listen to the Gospel. One of the stories we hear at this time of year is about Mary and Joseph taking Jesus, as a baby, to be presented in the Temple. We remember this story on 2nd February, the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus. Candles are blessed and carried on this day to remind us that Jesus would bring light and joy to the world.
Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the Temple. They wanted to thank God for him. At the Temple, they met an old man called Simeon. He was a good and holy person. He often went to the Temple to pray. When he saw Jesus, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God. He said, “This baby will bring light and joy to the world.” Mary and Joseph were very surprised by Simeon’s words and didn’t know what he meant at the time. Simeon blessed them.
After that, they met Anna. She was eighty-four years old and spent all her time in the Temple praying. She said a thank-you prayer to God for Jesus and told everyone that he would bring happiness to those who loved God. Mary and Joseph took Jesus home to Nazareth where he grew up and learned to praise God.
Based on Luke 2: 23 - 40
Read the story and watch the video, then think about and discuss these questions with an adult:
Now re-tell the story of Simeon and Anna using one of the storyboard templates I have attached or create one of your own.
You may want to make a card or draw a picture of a candle to celebrate this story ready for the 2nd February.
LO: To move with skill
Find a safe space to complete the exercises. Enjoy!
