'With Jesus, we learn as a joyful family and flourish to be the best that we can be'
Sending in work
Just a reminder- in line with our remote learning policy, we are asking you to email a photograph of one piece of English and one piece of maths in to me each week. Please do this via the purple mash email, NOT the school office email. The children have been shown how to do this on purple mash but just to refresh their memories:-
Log on to purple mash as normal. Either click on home, then click on computing, then go to 2Email or you can type 2Email in the search bar at the top. After you have clicked on 2Email, your inbox will come up. To compose a new email, click on the envelope with the little green cross which is in the very top right hand corner. I have sent you a message already, so that you have my address. Hope this helps!
You also need to hand in the 'to-do weekly' which has been set on Purple Mash. Thank you.
Below is a timetable as a guide for you to follow. Obviously if you have siblings and are sharing a laptop/tablet etc, then you need to be more flexible about when you do your online learning.

Purple Mash and reading are on-going
Phonics
To keep up with our phonics, please make sure you spend some time daily practising your phonics. In Y2 , we are mainly concentrating on phase 6 phonics .The spelling play and phonics play websites have phase 6 phonics games on. Phase 6 is much more of a grammar and spelling focus, so a lot of our work in the GPS starters in English are a revision/overlap of phase 6 phonics too. Below, I have put on a quick phase 6 guide for parents.
It is also useful to keep revisiting phase 5 phonics, so you can use the phonics play website for this and the other phases too.
Reading
It is important that you continue your reading too on a daily basis. You can read other books that you have at home and record these in your reading record- they count towards your 150 reads. There are reading books you can access on the purple mash site.
There is also a list of websites below, where you can access e-books online.
It is important that you talk to your child, as they are reading, to check that they are understanding what they are reading. There is a sheet below that gives you ideas for asking questions and practising your child's comprehension. We are beginning to work on inference in Y2, which means asking why characters say or do things. Lastly, don't forget to try and read with expression and intonation (not-like- a-robot!)
Exciting news Haydock Class!!
Mr Hall has now set up Haydock Class on TT Rockstars website. (This a fun website to help with times tables-that's what the TT stands for.) I will email you your individual pupil logins over the weekend and you can begin playing and practising your times tables. Remember to keep your login details private- you do NOT tell anyone else.
There is a link to the website below.
