GPS Starter

Using some describing words, can you write a list of adjectives to describe a fire?


Main activity

This week we are starting a new topic about the Great Fire of London. Before reading the anything about it, I want you to write your own poster about what you might know already about the Great Fire of London. 


Remember to check:

  • Capital letters
  • Finger spaces
  • Full stops 
  • Conjunctions - and, but, because



On Phonics play, practise your flashcards for your Phase - (Phase 3, 4 or 5). 

Now play Buried treasure using a sound of your choice. 

When you get a real word, use that word in a sentence before moving on. 



In Maths this week, Year 1 are looking at fractions and then moving on to capacity and volume.


In fractions, last week we learned about what a half of something is. This week, we are going to explore quarters. 


Then, we are moving on to capacity and volume and what these to phrases mean.


Have a go at the activities provided.



In Science we are starting our new topic, all about healthy eating. Have a look at the PowerPoint and write a paragraph about what you already know about healthy eating.


When you have finished, think about what you want to find out.

  • Where
  • Why
  • How
