Mental Maths Monday!

  1. Count in 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s and 10s forwards and backwards from different starting points.
  2. Say our odd and even number rhymes. "0, 2, 4, 6, 8, even numbers -  they are great!" "1, 3, 5, 7, 9 - I like odd numbers all the time!" Now sort these numbers into 2 groups - odd and even: 21   33   48   59   70   88   113   122   140   147   156   191   206   230   311   400
  3. Look at these three numbers and use them to create one multiplication calculation and one division calculation: 50    5    10. Now look at these three numbers and use them to create one addition calculation and one subtraction calculation: 26    60    34
  4. Have a go at 'Number of the Week'. Choose any number (you can decide how hard to make it or ask an adult at home to decide). Write your chosen number in your book in a circle and write facts around it (completing a spider diagram). Think about the following to write your facts: Is it odd or even? Is it a multiple of 2? Is it a multiple of 5? is it a multiple of 10? Is it a multiple of 3? Is it bigger than the number 50? How many digits does it have? Is it smaller than 80?
  5. Choose another number but keep it a secret. Write some facts about it and see if someone at home can work out which number you have chosen.

For the rest of the week, we are continuing to use 'The National Oak Academy' website for our maths work. Click on the link each day, which will take you to the lesson. I have added an extra challenge at the bottom of this page if you are looking for something else! This could be completed on a certain day or spread out across the week.
