English:

LO: To use the past tense

GPS Starter:

We are going to look at some apostrophes for possession. For example, the bike belongs to the girl, would become the girl's bike. We use the apostrophe here because the bike belongs to the girl. Can you change these sentences just like mine and use an apostrophe for possession. See if you can make your own sentence too!

The pen belongs to the boy.

The car belongs to the man.

The cup belongs to my brother.

Main Task:

Today we are looking at the past tense. Can you remember the suffix we use for past tense?

Can you write 3 sentences using 3 past tense verbs with a conjunction. For example, I wanted to go outside because it was sunny.

Art and Design

LO: To know about the work of artists

We are starting a new art unit all about 'self-portraits' so we will be looking at the artist Pablo Picasso. Have you heard about Picasso before?

Have a look at the 'All About Picasso' power point and look at the pictures. How does Picasso paint his pictures? What is different about them?

Next, watch the BBC Bitesize video about Picasso.

Then, draw a simple self-portrait of what you think you look like without looking! Please try to use a new and clean piece of paper rather than drawing in your book as this will help for next week's lesson. When you have drawn your picture, have a look in the mirror to see if your picture looks like you. Did you include all of the details on your face?

Evaluate you work by talking to your grown up about the key questions below:

  • What do you like about your drawing? Why?
  • Which part was hard to sketch? Why?
