LO: To develop a range of art techniques.

LO: To know about the work of a range of artists.

Today is the first lesson of our new Art unit.

Look at the 'All about Picasso' PowerPoint below and carefully look at his pictures – what do you notice about the art?

Look at the faces and talk to your grown up about the colours that have been used.

Watch BBC bitesize video about Picasso (link below).

Next, draw a very simple self-portrait without looking at yourself (just draw what you think you look like). ****Make sure you draw on a new/clean piece of paper- this will help you next week.****

When you have finished, look in the mirror to see if your portrait looks like you.

Evaluate you work by talking to your grown up about the key questions below:

  • What do you like about your drawing? Why?
  • Which part was hard to sketch? Why?
