Thursday 2nd April

Thursday 2nd April

English:

LO: To use suffixes.

Suffixes are added to words to change their meaning. Today we are going to look at adding suffixes to make words plural (more than one). For example, if we add -s to ruler, it becomes rulers.

Look at the 'Suffixes' PowerPoint and think carefully about adding -s or -es to these words to make them plural:

cat

dog

glass

brush

boat

car

glass

book

crayon

fox

Choose five words to use in super sentences.

Challenge: Record all the words you know with the -est, -ing or -ed suffix in.

E.g tallest, singing, walked.

Maths:

Mental Maths Starter: Count forwards and backwards in 10's to 100.

LO: To find fractions.

We know that fractions are equal parts of a shape or number.

Complete the 'Read and Colour Fractions' sheet.

Challenge: We know that fractions need to be equal.

We know that half of 4 is 2 because if we were sharing 4 sweets between 2 people, they would get 2 each.

Find half of these numbers:

8

10

12

14

16

18

20

22

Science:

Update your bean diary and record any changes in pictures and sentences.

Record a set of simple instructions for how to plant and look after a bean. Include the steps you have taken to look after your own plant so far (water it, check on it everyday, record any changes, leave it in sunlight).

E.g. First, plant your bean.

Next, add soil and water the bean.

       Then....

       After that...
