LO: To identify numbers to 20 by counting ten and then counting on.

In this lesson you will see how a tens frame is used to count a group of ten and then count how many more there are to make a teen number.

Talk to your grown up about:

  • how the rain gauge will collect the water
  • how much rain it would collect today (is it sunny, raining or windy?)
  • where you would put your rain gauge to make sure it collected the most water when it's raining (e.g. not under a cover).


If you have some resources at home, have a go at making your own rain gauge. Be careful to follow the instructions and work carefully with your grown up. When it is finished, leave it in a safe space outside and see how much rain it collects.
