'With Jesus, we learn as a joyful family and flourish to be the best that we can be'

# Tuesday 31st March

English

Tuesday 31st March

L.O: To write a recount.

Today, you are going to write the first 2 boxes of your recount (from your plan yesterday).

Give your recount a title ( My Day at the Zoo or My Birthday Party).

Start with something like " A few months ago, I had a trip to the zoo with my family. There was me,....."

Look back at your plan and say who was there, where you went, what you did/saw/felt.

Do the same with box 2- who, where, what you did/ saw/ felt.

Remember to include

• time conjunctions- first, next, then
• adjectives- lovely, happy, beautiful, cute
• punctuation- capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks
• conjunctions- and, but, because, when
• as much detail as possible- what did you wear at the party, how was the party room/place decorated.

Maths

Mental Starter: Reorder these numbers from smallest to largest. 34, 17, 6, 52, 23, 12, 41, 14, 25

Main activity:

31.3.20

L.O: To subtract one and two digit numbers

Complete these calculations in your book. You can draw a number line and use mental maths strategies (using fingers, counting back in 10s etc). Mild are the easiest ones and hot are the challenging ones. Don't feel your child has to complete them all, although everyone should have a go at the mild ones.

mild

12 - 5 =                    17 - 8 =             16 - 7 =             24 - 6 =               22- 22 =            39 - 0 =

spicy

23 - 10 =             28 - 12 =                36 - 11 =                39 - 23 =         34- 14 =              26 - 15 =

hot  (Remember = sign means the same as, so it is like a see-saw and it has to balance/be the same on either side of the = sign.)

10 - ? = 6             ?- 8 =  3                    21 - ? = 15                12 - 4 = 11 - ?              20 - 5 =  ? - 0
