'With Jesus, we learn as a joyful family and flourish to be the best that we can be'

Wednesday 6th January

English

Immediate Engagement: Create a list of 5 adjectives (describing words) to describe Jack from the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.

LO: To describe a character.

Look again at the video from yesterday and talk to your grown up about how Jack would have felt in the story. (Was he happy/ sad? Did he feel worried/excited?)

Using the list of adjectives you have made, describe Jack in at least three sentences. Don't forget to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops in your writing.

You could push your writing further by using a conjunction in your work (and, because).

EXT: Extend your learning to record two descriptive sentences about the giant and colour in the adjectives you have used to describe him.

Maths:

Immediate Engagement: Record number bonds to 10. (Number bonds are pairs that make a total, for example: 6+4=10). Extend to 20 if you are feeling confident.

LO: To create number patterns.

Yesterday we looked at number patterns. Today we are going to look at creating your own patterns.

First, choose a number from 1-5 and then count in 2's, 5's and 10's from your chosen starting point. Use the 100 square to help you.

For example:

3, 5, 7, 9....

3, 8, 13, 18...

3,13 ,23, 33...

EXT 1: Extend your learning to create your own 2's, 5's and 10's patterns with different numbers.

EXT 2: Record odd and even numbers to 30.

Log in to PurpleMash and update your avatar.

Then, I have set a 2Do about how to peel an orange (this links to our healthy food and growth topic). Internet safety is a key feature of Computing, so please remind your child to save their work and log out appropriately.

EXT: Use the '2paint' tool to create a picture of your favourite fruit.
