The children have been learning about the Battle of Bamber Bridge and they had visitors from the Preston Black History Group to talk to them about it. They learnt about the events that led up to the Battle of Bamber Bridge during World War 2, what occurred during it and the repercussions of this battle.
Exploring sound, by Mrs Burgess

The children in Beesley class have been exploring sound around our school environment on a sound walk. The children have been finding ways to make sound using their bodies and objects around our classroom. The children then worked together to make their own windchimes to hang in our outdoor area.

The children have been getting ready for Advent by helping to make our own class Advent Calendar. Each day a name will be pulled out from the special box to find out who will open the door for that day.

Last week the children looked at the story of Stanley's Stick in Drawing Club. The children drew Stanley and on Wednesday the children went on an adventure in forest school to find their own stick and transform it into something magical! The children then used their sticks to role play their own version of the story.

Woodcock class have been learning to play the Glockenspiel in their music lessons! We've been listening to different Jazz songs and learning to play a song called Bacharach Anorak.

Marsden Class have been learning all about World War II in History. We had a special visitor called Clinton from 'Preston Black History Group' come and talk to us all about The Battle of Bamber Bridge. We were fascinated and asked Clinton lots of insightful questions!

The children explored the scripture Isaiah 35: 9-10. They discussed the meaning of the scripture and chose which part of the scripture they thought was important and drew pictures to represent it.

The children learnt new skills of cutting and peeling. They explored cutting or peeling a range of soft foods that are different in shape, size and consistency.

This week, the children have started to explore composition by focusing on the preliminary skills: the concept of ‘wholes’ and ‘parts’.
The children have been looking at familiar foods and moving the parts together to make a whole. The children have been using actions to explore was is meant by part and part together makes a whole. We have been talking about parts being smaller and the whole is therefore bigger.
Nursery Rhyme Week 2024, by Mrs Burgess

At the end of Nursery Rhyme week the children decided they wanted to put on a show for Miss Mercer. The children made invitations for Miss Mercer. Miss Mercer watched all the nursery rhymes the children have been learning this week. Miss Mercer was very impressed and gave each child a certificate.

The children have been learning about the Jesse Tree. We read some stories from the Bible and the children designed baubles to represent those different stories.

The children looked at 3 different types of poems: a haiku, a limerick and a narrative poem. They practised reading it out loud, gave their opinions and in pairs discussed the features of the poems in order to help them fill out a PALS document.
Anti-Bullying week, by Miss Palacio

Last week the children took part in a live lesson with CBBC, they enjoyed learning all about the focus for anti bullying week and how we can be respectful to one another. They then had a go at writing their own acrostic poem for RESPECT.
Learning how to look after our teeth, by Mrs Burgess

During our topic of Celebrations we have been looking at lots of special food that people might eat during celebrations. We have also been talking about the importance of how to take care of our teeth. The children have been learning a song about taking care of their teeth and brushing them twice a day. We will be sending over useful information on oral health (provided by DfE) on Seesaw.
Whilst exploring the continuous provision the children have enjoyed learning how to brush their teeth properly.
Nursery Rhyme Week, by Mrs Burgess

Todays Nursery Rhyme of the day was Old Macdonald had a farm. The children have been learning the song using Makaton actions.
During Drawing Club the children have been drawing the animals in the song and had a go at segmenting the sounds in words and forming the letters to represent those sounds.
