Bacteria Experiment, by Mrs Hinchey
Date: 5th May 2024 @ 12:04pm
For our Spring 2 Science unit - Living things and their habitats - we completed an investigation to understand how bacteria grows in different conditions. In teams, we decided which conditions we thought would generate the most growth on pieces of bread, choosing between: damp and light; damp and dark; dry and light, or dry and dark.
We left our samples for a week before documenting with photographs. We then returned the samples and left for a further 3 weeks.

Date: 25th Apr 2024 @ 9:24pm
This week the children in Beesley class have been learning the story The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle. In 'Drawing Club' the children created their own version of the main character, the spider. The children then went on to think if there was another animal in the story who would they like the spider to meet? During our final 'Drawing Club' the children created their own version of somewhere for the spider to live instead of the web from the story. We had some fantastic ideas! One idea including having a Venus flytrap inside the spider's house.
Throughout the week the children have had the opportunity to explore other activities within the continuous provision. Activities included; creating their own spider webs using chalk to mark make and learning how to use a hole punch to create their own holes in card to make webs by threading string or wool for their own playdough spiders. The children have all had a go at following the step by step instructions of how to draw a spider paying close attention to detail. Just like the spider, we have had a very busy week in Beesley Class!
