Dodgeball Competition, by Miss Palacio

Some of the year 3 and 4 children took part in a dodgeball competition at Lostock Hall High School along with 9 other local primary schools. 

In their group the children came first! Well done SMSB, here they are with coach Chris and some of their medals!

As part of their 'reading' phase of the story 'Puss In Boots' the children interviewed each other pretending to be different characters so that they understand the characters' thoughts, feeling and motives behind actions taken in the story.

Making links across different time periods, by Ms Patel

The children worked in groups to focus on buildings, clothes, medicine and food across different time periods and put photos in chronological order to learn how things have changed from The Great Plague till now.

In D.T, the children designed and created torches that could be used in forest school. They used previous learning from science to help create a successful product.

The children worked in groups to invent their own product that cannot be found in any shops. They linked it to their explanation topic in English to explain to the members of the Dragon's Den how the inventions work and to convince them to invest in their product. 

Building circuits and switches, by Ms Patel

The children applied their learning from Science to create a series circuit. They also learnt how to make a switch out of card, split pins and a paperclip and then used it to make their bulb light up.

In R.E, Rigby class have been studying and comparing the stories of 'Manna in the Desert' and 'The Feeding of the 5000'. They role-played the story to help them understand the emotions the people would have been feeling when the miracle was performed.
