Autumn walk 🍂, by Mrs Burgess
Date: 2nd Oct 2026 @ 2:16pm
The children in Beesley Class enjoyed an autumn walk to explore the seasonal changes taking place as summer turns into autumn. Before our walk, we shared the story Hello Autumn and discussed how the environment changes throughout the seasons.
The children then went on an autumn treasure hunt around our school grounds, carefully observing the signs of the new season. We discovered conkers, acorns and pinecones, and talked about where they came from. The children also collected fallen leaves, which we brought back to the classroom to explore through leaf rubbings and a variety of mark-making activities.
As part of our seasonal learning, each child had their photograph taken in front of our class tree. We will continue to do this throughout the year so that we can observe and compare how the tree changes across the seasons, helping us to develop our understanding of the natural world over time.
Understanding the World: The children enjoyed exploring their environment, making observations and discussing the changes they noticed during the transition from summer to autumn.

The very busy spider🕷️🕸️, by Mrs Burgess
Date: 12th May 2026 @ 6:20pm
We have recently become spider experts learning lots of facts from the non fiction books all about Spiders. Last week we read the story of The Very Busy Spider and created our own spider web by role playing the story everytime we said "the spider too busy spinning her web"we rolled the 'spider silk' to another person. At the end of the story we discovered we had created our own spider web.
Later the same day, whilst outside some of the children found that the 'very busy spider' was busy creating spider webs on the posts in our outdoor area. She was a very busy spider!
