The children had lots of fun throwing the leaves!
The children had a photograph in front of our class tree. This is something we will be doing for each season to observe the changes overtime.

Learning all about our hands and germs!, by Mrs Burgess

Date: 1st Oct 2025 @ 7:25pm

Beesley Class have been learning all about their hands. The children have been exploring the importance of using soap when washing their hands by experimenting how germs can remain on their hands when they don't use soap or clean them properly. The children explored what happens to the germs when they didn't put soap on and what did happen to the germs when they did. The children have also been learning how to wash their hands properly.
The children have been using paint to make handprints as we are going to measure all of the handprints to find out who has the biggest and who has the smallest hands in our class.

Learning about our eyes and noses, by Mrs Burgess

Date: 1st Oct 2025 @ 7:06pm

The children in Beesley Class have continued to learn about certain parts of their bodies. This week the children have been learning about the important jobs of our eyes and nose. The children explored making an assault course outside and had a go at seeing how different it felt going around the course on their own and how challenging it was to rely on their friends to help when their eyesight was restricted.

The children have been exploring which is the most popular eye colour in our class. We made a pictogram by looking at our eyes in a mirror and each had a go at colouring an eye in. We then added our eyes to our class pictogram and counted the amount of eyes for each colour of eye. We found out that blue was the most popular eye colour in our class.

The children played 'Pirate Map Bingo' to help they look closely at their maps to identify features. The children then explored our school environment using Digimaps and looked at different types of maps including aerial view and ordnance survey maps. The children noticed key features such as the path that we walk up when we visit church, the KS2 running track and our outdoor area. Over the next couple of weeks the children will be creating their own maps.

Super scientists exploring floating and sinking!, by Mrs Burgess

Date: 23rd Jun 2025 @ 4:13pm

The children in Beesley class have been learning about floating and sinking.  Before we started we made a prediction about whether we thought different objects would float or sink. The children voted using their arms by putting them up if they thought the object would float and arms down if they thought the object would sink. We then tested out the objects and recorded our findings. Throughout the afternoon the children explored different objects in the water areas both inside and outside.

Afterwards the children then had a challenge to make their own boat and test it to see how many objects it could hold before it sank.

We had lots of fun exploring floating and sinking!

Reliable counting, by Mrs Burgess

Date: 21st May 2025 @ 4:11pm

This week in maths the children in Reception have been focusing on reliable counting. We had a special visitor~ Matt the monkey who needed some help with counting reliably. The children have been telling Matt how to count reliably. We had some fantastic ideas including putting the objects in a line and saying the number name when touching the object.

Matt brought us some musical instruments which we have been using in maths. We have been tuning our ears into counting the sounds that we can hear. The children then had a go at choosing an instrument to play whilst their group had a go at counting the sounds.
