We designed and made our own hand puppets in DT, using a simple stitching technique. Our designs were linked to the characters from our English units- Wind in the Willows or Beatrix Potter animal stories. We had great fun making them!

In English this week, our myths topic has brought us to the tale of Pandora. On Wednesday, we read the first part of the myth and discussed the decision Pandora had to make - whether to open the box given to her by the gods. We talked about what a conscience is, and the idea of having a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other.

To bring this idea to life, we created two seperate lines close together. One side had to whisper encouragement for opening the box, whilst the other tried to persuade against it.

Today as part of RE we read the story 'Goat's coat' and discussed how kind the goat was to all his friends.  We explored what does it mean to be a good friend? How do we make friends? What do friends do together? Afterwards the children made friendship bracelets to give to their friends.

The children in Barlow and Beesley had a fantastic day celebrating Elmer Day. The children enjoyed taking part in a range of different activities including making their own Elmers out of milk bottles, peg board Elmers, larger scale Elmers, Elmer jigsaws, rainbows using oil pastels and creating their own Elmer ears. Throughout the week the children read lots of different Elmer stories. 

World Bee Day, by Miss Fann

The children in Beesley Class have been learning all about bees. We read the story Omar, the bees and me. In drawing club the children drew the character Maisy and Grandpa's garden. The children then went on to learn and write facts about bees. The children took part in various activities in the continuous provision including printing beehives and making 3D bees (in Forest School)

It was a very exciting morning in Beesley Class this morning! After many weeks of caring for and observing the various changes, some of our froglets have now grown into frogs! Over the next few days we will be releasing our frogs into the pond in Forest School.

During our Faith Week the children have been learning about the religion of Islam. The children explored many artefacts including a prayer mat with a compass and had a go at designing their own prayer mats.

The children in Beesley Class have been taking part in Tots on Tyres training led by South Ribble Council.  This week the children had their second session with the South Ribble coaches. The children have worked hard and showed great 'perseverance' (our Gospel Value for the month of May) Well done Beesley class!
